Go Green

Sony Recycling Day (2010)
Date: 6 August 2010
Time: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

As an industry leader, SMCI Group assumes full Corporate Social Responsibility and is committed to maintaining high ethical standards in all business activity conducted. Our key is to reduce ecological impact and maximise benefits for our environment and society through proactive involvement in green programs.

Some examples of green initiatives we have been involved in include the E-Waste Campaign in 2009 and the Sony Recycling Day in 2010.

SMC Sdn. Bhd. was invited to join the environmental initiative by our client, Sony EMCS, as they were aware of our proactivity in environmental efforts. Involving the staff of both Sony EMCS Bangi and SMC Technology, four representatives from SMC took part in the event, bringing with them buntings, banners, flyers, and a lorry for their usage.

The recycling program rewards participants with vouchers and green recycling bags sponsored by Sony for a specified volume of discarded items that they manage to pick up and send to the centre.

Our staff took on the task with earnest and fared well in the program, collecting a total of 75.7 kg of plastic bottles, 1215.8 kg of newspaper and carton boxes, and 17.45 kg of aluminium cans.

At the end of the program, it was evident that our individual efforts were significant in in protecting the environment.

E-Waste Campaign (2009)

Sempena Program Rakan Alam Sekitar Peringkat Parlimen Tenggara

SMC was invited to join the program by the Depart of Environment (DOE) in Negeri Johor, who had appointed SMC as a collector of E-waste in Kampung Temenin Lama and the nearby communities.

Jointly organised by the Department of Environment Negeri Johor and in collaboration with Pusat Khidmat Wakil Rakyat Ahli Parlimen Tenggara and SMC Technology Sdn. Bhd., the program focused on spreading awareness and educating its participants of the hazardous effects of improper waste disposal and its impact on our health and environment.
